The Korte Company Chooses Silcoseal For Anheuser-Busch Project

When the State of Illinois adopted the lower VOC standards of the OTC in mid-2009, it meant the search was on by The Korte Company for a new bondbreaker which could be used on their upcoming Donnewald Anheuser-Busch Distribution Center project in Greenville, IL.  The selected bondbreaker would need to not only meet the lower VOC requirements, but also Korte’s requirements for performance.  As one of the country’s leading design/build firms and a leader in tilt-up construction, The Korte Company is involved with tilt-up projects across the country.  In their experience throughout the years, most subcontractors they had worked with chose Nox-Crete’s Silcoseal line.  Subsequently, Korte chose Nox-Crete’s water based Silcoseal Select, which offers the lowest VOC of any Silcoseal bondbreaker, was chosen.

Lindsay Lampasona Delivers Divine Results With Silcoseal

When the needs of the faithful and the flexibility of tilt-up came together in Howell, New Jersey, the result was a structure that was not only sustainable, but also graceful. The congregation of the Archangel Michael Coptic Orthodox Church had outgrown their  current church and needed a new home for their worship that would meet both their  spiritual needs as well their secular.  Their new church needed to be low maintenance, be built to last for many years to come and be beautifully and uniquely designed as a representation of their faith.  As the architect for the project, Paradigm Consulting of Texas knew that tilt-up was really the only way to achieve the things that the congregation wanted while also staying on budget and on schedule.

Because no one beyond the design firm had any prior experience with tilt-up, Lindsay  Lampasona was brought on board to provide the much needed tilt-up expertise.  With over 35 years of tilt-up experience, the firm is a recognized leader in the tilt-up construction industry and the skill and experience that their West Hartford, Connecticut team brought to the project was invaluable because of the variety of tilt-up challenges the project offered.  Arches, towers, cast-in elements, curved walls, intricate recesses and reveals - this tilt-up project had it all.  Because more panels were needed than could be poured on the floor slab, a casting slab and stack casting were also used in panel production.  Of the approximately 61 panels cast to complete this project, 22 of them were unique and required additional skill and precision.

The bondbreaker of choice for Lindsay Lampasona is Silcoseal and for this project Silcoseal Select was used.

Forming Underground Down Under

Since March, 2010, motorists in Brisbane, Australia have been able to travel between the north and south sides of the Brisbane River through the Clem7 Tunnel.  With the completion of this project, motorists can now travel at a steady pace and avoid the 24 stoplights that would be encountered if the same trip was taken on surface streets.  Less traffic, more predictable travel times and safer travel are all benefits of the project which initially started tunnel boring in 2007.

The tunnel travels approximately 200 feet underground for a distance of nearly 3 miles.  With that much vehicle exhaust to deal with, proper ventilation handling is vital. Ventilation
equipment, lighting and other services in a tunnel generally require the construction of a suspended slab used for the installation of these items.

Because of the enclosed environment for the construction of the Clem7 smoke duct slab, petroleum based form release agents available in Australia were ruled out because of air quality and flammability issues.  The solution, supplied by Reid Construction Systems, was Nox-Crete PCE.

Green Floor, Great Floor With Nox-Crete Products

When his clients expressed a desire for their new Mission AVEDA salon and spa to be as green as possible, Julian Bentley of Open Earth (www.openearthonline.com), Bradenton, Florida, knew that an exposed concrete floor would not only meet their desires to be environmentally conscious, but would also beautifully integrate with the other high-concept design elements they had chosen for the project.

According to Julian, his goal for the final finish on the floor not only called for embracing the natural beauty of the concrete, but also for enhancing it.  The floor also needed to be protected to ensure that the natural elegance of the exposed concrete wasn't marred by the chemical products used daily in the salon.

Commissioned Art Project Uses Acryl Pen

With plans in place to add 25 new transit stations to the Snohomish County, Washington's Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Corridor on Highway 99, the Snohomish County Arts Commission and the City of Everett Cultural Commission sought proposals from qualified artists who could design and integrate a public art project into 16 of the future stations.  The artists were challenged to submit designs that could be integrated into an 8' x 8' square of the transit station floors and which would represent movement or transportation, or even better, both.

Blast-Off And Bio-Clean Ready Bag-In-A-Box Packaging
Nox-Crete has introduced two new Green Engineered™ products and both are packaged in a new recyclable, greener alternative to traditional steel and plastic pails and plastic jugs.

Both products are packaged in Nox-Crete’s new bag-in-a-box packaging which is 100% recyclable and is produced using less raw material and energy than traditional plastic pails and jugs.  Perforations at the top of the box allow easy access to the resealable dispensing nozzle and the bag creates a vacuum as it dispenses, allowing for 99% of the product to be accessed and reducing the product waste that can be seen with pails and jugs.
